Suspect in International Car Theft Ring Dies in Police Custody in Meknès, Morocco

The prefectural police service of the city of Meknès recorded the death of a detainee during his transfer to the hospital following a malaise. The deceased had been placed in custody as part of a preliminary investigation into his alleged involvement in a case of international stolen car trafficking.

The suspect died on Friday evening during his transfer to the provincial hospital of Meknès, on board an ambulance from the civil protection. It was on the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office, for the needs of the investigation, that he had been placed in custody, indicates the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in a press release cited by the Map.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for an autopsy, in order to determine the causes of death. Similarly, an investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to elucidate all the circumstances of this case.
