Man Dies in Police Custody After Domestic Violence Arrest in Meknès, Morocco

A man accused of violence against his wife had a seizure while at the police station. Transported to the hospital for emergency care, he died, according to sources close to the prefecture of Meknès.
It all started with a complaint of domestic violence, received by the security services of Meknès. The police sent an ambulance to ensure the transfer of the victim to the hospital for the necessary care, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). It was in this context that the husband was apprehended and placed at the disposal of the investigation conducted by the permanent police station, before he fainted and was immediately transferred to the hospital where he died upon arrival at the emergency department.
Pending the conclusions of the investigation which will have to determine the circumstances of this death, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for an autopsy. The statements of all the witnesses who were at the scene at the time of the events, as well as those of the deceased’s wife, will also be taken in order to determine the ins and outs of this case.
