Suspect in Moroccan Theft Case Dies in Police Custody After Hospital Visit

The Béni Mellal police prefecture announced the death of an individual placed in custody. He was there as part of a preliminary investigation into his alleged involvement in a case of qualified theft.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated that according to the judicial and medical records of the place of custody, "the suspect was transferred to the regional hospital of the city, Sunday morning, due to abdominal pathological symptoms accompanied by malaise and nausea". He received the necessary medical care before being "taken back to the custody site at the police prefecture headquarters".
But the police officers in charge of the surveillance called the ambulance a second time to take the same defendant to the hospital, as he was showing the same symptoms as during his first malaise. This last crisis proved fatal to him, reports the MAP.
A judicial investigation has been immediately opened to elucidate the ins and outs of this case. As for the body of the deceased, it has been transferred to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
