Suspect in Bordeaux Teen’s Murder Arrested in Morocco After Months-Long Manhunt

Targeted by an Interpol "red notice" for his alleged involvement in the premeditated murder of Nabil, an 18-year-old young man, in Bordeaux, a Frenchman was arrested in Ifrane, Morocco. Pending his possible extradition to France, he has been taken into custody.
The end of the run for the alleged perpetrator of Nabil’s murder on May 3, 2024, in his Aubiers neighborhood in Bordeaux. He was apprehended on Thursday, September 19, 2024 in Ifrane, Morocco. This 22-year-old man was living from hotel to hotel. On Snapchat, he shared photos of hotels with pools. His flight would have been financed from Bordeaux. He had been actively sought by the police of the organized and specialized crime division for more than four months. The investigating judge in charge of the case should make an extradition request. In the meantime, he has been taken into custody.
The facts for which he was actively sought date back to May 2024. He stabbed an 18-year-old man to death in the Aubiers housing project in Bordeaux on May 3 around 12:30 p.m. The origin of this premeditated murder was a dispute that broke out between two young people from the Aubiers neighborhood, on the Ginette-Neveu square, known to be a place of drug dealing and transactions.
"That day, his little brother had come to ask him for help. While he was simply waiting for their mother, he had been jostled by an older person from the neighborhood whose illicit activities he was obviously hindering. On Ginette-Neveu square [...], Nabil came to his rescue and received a knife wound to the chest," reports Sud Ouest. Called, the firefighters arrived on the scene. They tried, but in vain, to revive him. Nabil succumbed to his injuries. "A single lethal wound by a bladed weapon to the left flank having perforated the heart and lung," the prosecutor’s office had indicated.
After committing this crime, the aggressor fled. The French authorities had then issued an international arrest warrant against him. His arrest in Morocco puts an end to his flight.
