French Fugitive Wanted for Drug Trafficking Arrested in Marrakech

A 37-year-old French national was arrested on Friday evening in the suburbs of Marrakech, the Moroccan authorities announced. The man was in an irregular situation on Moroccan territory.
Of Algerian origin, he was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French justice system last September.
It was in the outskirts of Marrakech that the individual was arrested. The police, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), discovered that the man was on the Interpol wanted list. A red notice had been issued against him at the request of the National Central Bureau of Paris for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
Placed in custody, he will be brought before the Moroccan justice system. The Moroccan authorities have informed their French counterparts of the arrest with a view to an extradition procedure.
