Suspect Arrested in Rabat Currency Exchange Robbery After Viral Video

The elements of the anti-gang brigade of Rabat, in collaboration with the services of the DGST, recently arrested an individual suspected of being involved in a robbery carried out in a currency exchange office in the city center of the capital.
The arrest of the suspect came after an investigation conducted by the anti-gang brigade of Rabat to elucidate the case, reports Assabah, which specifies that its agents reacted to videos widely circulated on social networks, showing the robber committing the offense.
The accused, who was wearing a balaclava during the robbery committed a few days ago, managed to get away with a sum of money by threatening the employee who was alone in her office with a knife, as could be seen.
The preliminary investigation conducted in collaboration with the DGST made it possible to locate the suspect’s address in a working-class neighborhood. The latter was arrested and confessed. He admitted to having committed this crime, specifying that he had been watching the currency exchange office for several days before taking action. He waited for all the customers to leave the premises before entering the office where the employee was, whom he forced to hand over the money under the threat of a knife.
The accused was taken into custody by the judicial police elements under the supervision of the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Rabat. He is being prosecuted for aggravated theft under the threat of a knife.
