Study: Cash Transactions Pose Low Risk for COVID-19 Transmission, Says French Central Bank

According to the Banque de France, the use of banknotes does not constitute a risk of Covid-19 contamination.
Scientific laboratories have been designated to conduct research in this direction. And according to AFP, the banknotes do not present any particular risk of infection.
Indeed, from the work of the laboratory, it appears that the virus resists 10 to 100 times longer on stainless steel than on a banknote. The latter having a porous surface, access becomes difficult for the virus.
For the French Bank, the use of banknotes presents no risk if the preventive measures against the virus are respected and applied.
France has increased 30 to 50 euros of contactless payment since the deconfinement on May 11 last. Payment made by bank card via a code to be entered on a keypad.
For the most vulnerable populations and people who wish to pay in cash, the Banque de France reassures them about the feasibility of this means. Better, it adds that any cash transaction refused will be penally sanctioned.
