Spanish PM Sánchez Vacations in Morocco Amid Heightened Security and Diplomatic Ties

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has decided to spend his summer vacation in Morocco. Staying in a hotel near the Cave of Hercules, Sánchez was welcomed in Marrakech and Tangier by Moroccan and Spanish officials. The necessary security system for the visit of a head of government was also in place, even for a private visit.

This choice of destination is not a simple tourist choice; it symbolizes the excellent current relationship between the countries bordering the Mediterranean. A strong link, strengthened by a solid diplomatic relationship, is currently experiencing one of its best moments, indicates Alatayar. This is partly due to Spain’s favorable position towards Morocco’s initiative on the Western Sahara, which has strengthened ties between the two countries.

The constant improvement in relations between Spain and Morocco was underlined during the High-Level Meeting (RAN) in Rabat last February. Pedro Sánchez and the head of the Moroccan government, Aziz Akhannouch, ratified important bilateral agreements in various fields during this meeting, followed by an invitation from King Mohammed VI to Sánchez. These developments have paved the way for joint collaborations in various fields such as the economy, security and immigration.
