Morocco and Spain to Hold High-Level Diplomatic Meeting in Rabat on February 1-2
Thursday 12 January 2023, by
It’s official. After several postponements, the high-level meeting announced between Morocco and Spain will be held on February 1st and 2nd in Rabat.
The news was given by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The organization of this meeting is part of the agreements concluded between Pedro Sanchez and King Mohammed VI, at the end of the visit of the President of the Spanish Government to Rabat on April 7th last.
This is a crucial meeting during which the two countries will exchange views on the development of their friendly and cooperative relations. In March, Spain and Morocco opened another page of this cooperation. The neighboring country has revised its position on the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara, considering it "the most serious, realistic and credible basis" for the conflict.
According to Spanish diplomacy, Spain will be represented at this meeting by its Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and a dozen ministers from his government. On the Moroccan side, no information has been provided so far on the participants.
