Spain and Morocco to Hold High-Level Meeting, Mending Diplomatic Ties

A Spanish delegation will travel to Rabat at the end of November to participate in a bilateral meeting with the Moroccan government, in order to finalize the last details for the upcoming High-Level Meeting.

The organization of the High-Level Meeting is part of the agreements concluded between Pedro Sanchez and King Mohammed VI, at the end of the Spanish president’s visit to Rabat on April 7, marking the end of the long diplomatic crisis between the two countries and the beginning of a new "unprecedented" stage in their relations. This bilateral meeting has not been held for several years, due in particular to Spain’s position on the Sahara, recalls Ok Diario.

The two countries are accelerating the preparations for its organization since Pedro Sanchez decided to support the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara. According to government sources, "the high-level meeting between Spain and Morocco is an important meeting for the development of the friendly and cooperative relations that exist between two strategic partners". The last meeting dates back to 2018.
