Spanish-Registered Vehicle Caught Smuggling 17.5 kg of Cannabis at Ceuta Border Crossing

The elements of the Joint Control Brigade of Customs and National Security operating at the Bab Sebta crossing point thwarted, on Saturday, an attempt to traffic 17.5 kilograms of cannabis resin in the form of tablets.

The fight against drug trafficking continues to record success. At Bab Sebta, the elements of the Joint Brigade of the General Directorate of National Security and the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration seized 17.5 kg of cannabis resin, a customs source told the MAP.

This seizure follows a thorough search of a utility vehicle registered in Spain that was about to leave the national territory. The search proved fruitful: the drugs carefully hidden in the spare tire of the vehicle were discovered.

The driver of the car, who was accompanied by his wife and two children, was handed over to the Judicial Police of Tetouan for further investigation, the same source concluded.
