Spanish Rapper Morad’s Semi-Liberty Revoked, Returns to Full Imprisonment

Responding favorably to a request from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the judge of the Prison Supervision Court revoked the semi-liberty of Spanish rapper of Moroccan origin Morad.
The legal troubles are piling up for rapper Morad. On Tuesday, he returned to Brians 2 prison. His semi-liberty has been revoked. Until now, he had been spending the night in an open center in Barcelona, from Monday to Thursday, since the prison treatment commission had granted him the open regime. His incarceration dates back to last April. He began serving a six-month sentence imposed on him for a traffic offense in 2022.
Last February, Morad had pleaded guilty and accepted a two-year prison sentence for a confrontation with the police during the filming of a music video in the La Florida neighborhood of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, near Barcelona in 2021. He had also been fined 900 euros. The sentence for incitement to public disorder and attack with the use of a dangerous weapon had nevertheless been suspended due to the absence of previous convictions for this type of offense and on the condition that he did not commit any new offenses during a two-year period.
Also in February, Morad paid the sum of 10,000 euros as compensation to a Mossos d’Esquadra agent in another legal case. He is accused of having filmed the agent while the latter was fining him and of having published the images on his social networks. The rapper had claimed that the agent was a "child abuser".
Morad is very well known to the justice system and the police. In May, the Prosecutor’s Office requested 6 years in prison against him for contempt of authority and illegal possession of a weapon. He is accused of having threatened police officers with a weapon in July 2021 while violating the night curfew decreed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
