Spain: rapper Morad arrested again by the police
The Moroccan rapper Morad was apprehended by the Guardia Urbana of L’Hospitalet before being released by the duty judge. The artist was accused of violating a restraining order protecting his stepfather, Mohamed T., who had reported to the authorities the presence of the rapper’s vehicle in the immediate vicinity of his place of residence.
The incident began when the stepfather noticed that Morad’s car was parked less than 500 meters from the room he rents. During his statement, the singer claimed that he was unaware that Mohamed T. resided in this area, where his recording studio is also located, and assured that he had no awareness of violating the precautionary measure. His lawyer contested the facts by requesting an expert assessment to verify whether the distance between the vehicle and the residence was actually less than the legal limit. Morad also expressed his exasperation at what he considers to be harassment, telling the judge that the local police had arrested him "ten times in a month".
This restrictive order, issued for a period of one year by a court in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, prohibits the singer from approaching the residence, workplace or any place frequented by Mohamed T. It stems from a previous family conflict, related to alleged mistreatment inflicted by the stepfather on the artist’s mother. Following a telephone altercation in which Morad had reprimanded the man, the latter had recorded the conversation and filed a complaint for threats.
This new judicial episode adds to a series of previous incidents for the rapper. His career has already been disrupted by several cases, including an incarceration in April 2024 for a road safety offense and a conviction earlier that year for inciting unrest and assaulting police officers on the Blocs Florida square, his neighborhood of origin.
