Spanish National Arrested in Morocco for Human Trafficking Scheme Targeting Algerians

The elements of the national security of M’diq arrested, on Sunday, 6 individuals, including a Spanish national of Moroccan origin and 5 Algerians, for violation of the state of emergency, organization of illegal immigration, illegal stay, and refusal to comply.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, the suspect, a Spanish national, had promised to facilitate illegal immigration to Europe to 5 Algerian nationals, in exchange for the sum of 7,000 euros.

Having failed to keep his promise, a public settling of scores had followed, forcing the law enforcement to intervene in order to put an end to the fight, despite the fierce resistance of the suspects, the statement adds. Some had not hesitated to throw objects at the police officers.

The suspects were taken into custody, at the disposal of the public prosecutor’s office, pending the determination of the contours of the case as well as the possible ramifications of the human trafficking network.
