Moroccan Police Bust Human Trafficking Ring Targeting Canary Islands

An operation carried out on Monday by the judicial police of Guelmim led to the dismantling of a human trafficking and illegal immigration network. 8 individuals, including 2 African nationals, were arrested.
According to information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, the suspects, apprehended at different locations in the city, were organized in a network of smugglers operating between Morocco and the Canary Islands.
During the searches, 5 cars, an inflatable boat, maritime navigation equipment and a foreign passport were seized by the police, in addition to 420 liters of fuel and a large caliber bladed weapon.
The 8 suspects were taken into custody and made available to the investigation conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, pending the determination of the contours of this case and the possible ramifications of the criminal network.
