Spanish Coast Guard Seizes 810 Kilos of Hashish in Luxury Yacht Chase

The maritime service of the Civil Guard intercepted a luxury yacht transporting 810 kilos of hashish, after a half-hour chase between Pilar de la Horadada and the waters of Cabo Roig, next to Orihuela (Alicante). The crew members, three Spaniards and one Moroccan, were arrested.
The yacht, about 15 meters long, was sailing from Cabo de Palos, in Cartagena (Murcia), towards the bay of Torrevieja, when it was located by the maritime service of the Civil Guard, the Armed Institute said in a statement.

The boat fled in the waters of Pilar de la Horadada, after the Civil Guard services ordered the crew members to turn off the engine to allow them to carry out a routine check, reports ABC. During the half-hour chase, the crew members were throwing large packages into the sea.

After the interception of the boat, the agents discovered that they were bales of hashish. In total, 27 bales weighing about 30 kilos each, or 810 in total, were seized. The four crew members, three Spaniards aged 26 and 43, and a 24-year-old Moroccan, were also arrested and made available to the competent court, which ordered their detention.
