Being without papers, the agents proceeded to arrest them as alleged perpetrators of an offense against the immigration law, noting that they were about to enter Spain illegally. After a thorough search of the boat, the civil guards discovered that the 16 gasoline cans actually contained 350 kilos of hashish. Three more kilos of hashish were hidden in a backpack.
The three Moroccans were arrested for a crime against public health and for drug trafficking. They were transferred, along with the seized boat and drugs, to the port of Motril, before being taken care of by the judicial police team of the Civil Guard of Almuñécar, who opened an investigation to elucidate the case.
