Spain Seeks to Deliver Covid-19 Vaccines to Sahrawi Refugees in Tindouf Camps

The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is looking for the "most effective way" to convey Covid-19 vaccines to the Tindouf camps in order to immunize the Sahrawi population.
Senator Carles Mulet of Compromís had sent a written question to the Spanish government to find out the reasons for the delay in sending Covid-19 vaccine doses to the territories of Western Sahara, a region nevertheless considered a "priority" in the "solidarity vaccination" strategy defined by the Executive.

In response, the government of Pedro Sanchez recalled that Spain is one of the main donor countries of Covid-19 vaccines in the world, specifying that the donation "involves a specific logistical and legal plan for each humanitarian context". And to add: "The donation of vaccines to the Sahrawi population is planned and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to find the most effective mechanism to convey these vaccine doses so that they can be inoculated to them".

Spain has committed to donating 50 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to several countries in the world before the first quarter of 2022. In total, 20 million of these doses are intended for African countries, according to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
