Spain: End of the run for the Moroccan fraudster with 748,000 euros wanted by Interpol
A Moroccan fugitive accused of embezzling nearly 750,000 euros thought he could escape justice by hiding in Spain. The Civil Guard put an end to his flight in Girona, executing an international arrest warrant that now inevitably brings him closer to extradition to the Kingdom.
The hunt ended in Maçanet de la Selva. The Civil Guard arrested a 38-year-old man, a priority target of Interpol and the Moroccan courts. This dragnet closes the trap on an individual accused of a series of massive frauds, the total damage of which amounts to 748,000 euros.
The suspect had hastily left Morocco to flee the investigations opened against him. His file shows frauds targeting multiple victims who remained in the country. This flight triggered the issuance of an international arrest warrant and an extradition request at the beginning of 2024. The close collaboration between the security services on both sides made it possible to locate him precisely in Catalonia.
The final operation took place on November 26. The Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of Girona, supported by the local police, carried out the arrest without the slightest incident. The agents immediately secured the detainee to present him to justice, thus sealing his fate.
The justice system is currently examining his case to validate the procedure for handing him over to the Moroccan authorities.
