Spain issues an international arrest warrant against a Moroccan

The investigating court of El Ejido (Almería) has issued an international arrest warrant against the alleged murderer of a 35-year-old woman, stabbed to death in broad daylight in La Mojonera (Almería) on October 2nd. The suspect is said to have fled to Morocco.

The lifeless body of the victim was found on the afternoon of October 2nd on Lavadero Street in La Mojonera. The woman had five stab wounds, one of which had hit her vital organs, causing her immediate death. Alerted, the health services, the Civil Guard and the local police went to the scene and found the woman dead.

The 53-year-old man is said to have fled to Morocco via the port of Algeciras on the same day as the crime. The competent court has decided to issue an international arrest warrant against the suspect following the investigations carried out by the Civil Guard, which led to the discovery of his vehicle parked in the port. The agents found a knife inside the vehicle that could be the murder weapon.

The lawyer for the victim’s family, Óscar Tripiana, confirmed that the security cameras located near the port of Algeciras cabins would have filmed the suspect. The man’s identity and his link to the victim were able to be established thanks to the statements of certain witnesses, as well as the content of the woman’s devices and personal effects.

The accused and the victim would have had a brief relationship, which would have ended on September 27th, a few days before the murder. For the family’s lawyer, the facts could be qualified as a sexist crime, as the two "would have cohabited for a certain time". Questioned as part of the investigation, one of the suspect’s brothers declared that he did not know the whereabouts of his brother, not ruling out the possibility that the latter had fled to Morocco on the same day as the crime.
