Marrakech: Arrest of a Frenchman wanted by Interpol for attempted murder

A French fugitive, actively sought by the justice system of his country for serious criminal acts, was arrested on Monday, November 17 in Marrakech. The operation was carried out jointly by the local police and the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The man apprehended is a 23-year-old French national of Algerian origin. Checking his profile in the Interpol database confirmed that he was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the National Central Bureau in Paris.

He is suspected of involvement in a case of "attempted murder committed as part of a criminal network". During his arrest, the law enforcement authorities also seized two pieces of cannabis resin and a sum of money in Algerian currency in his possession.

In accordance with the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was taken into custody as part of the extradition procedure. The Interpol office in Rabat was tasked with informing its French counterpart of this arrest.
