French Fugitive Nabbed at Tangier Airport in International Drug Kidnapping Case

The Moroccan police services proceeded to arrest a French national at Tangier airport. The arrest was carried out based on information transmitted by Interpol.

The man arrested on Tuesday, October 7 at Ibn Battouta airport is a 32-year-old French national of Algerian origin. A check in the Interpol database confirmed that he was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities.

He is suspected of being involved in a case of "kidnapping, sequestration and death threats". The latter would have participated in the kidnapping of a Belgian citizen in Brussels in 2024, before sequestering him in France as part of a settling of scores between drug trafficking networks.

The Interpol office in Rabat was tasked with informing its counterpart in France of the arrest in order to initiate the extradition procedure.
