Spain Arrests Moroccan Terror Suspect Wanted for Drug Trafficking Near Barcelona

A terrorist wanted in Morocco was arrested in Spain near Barcelona by the Spanish National Police. He is also wanted for drug trafficking.

It was under an international arrest warrant issued by Morocco through Interpol that a man was arrested, this Wednesday, by the Spanish National Police, in Santa Coloma de Gramanet, in the vicinity of Barcelona. He was wanted by Morocco for "membership in a terrorist organization" and "drug trafficking".

The arrest of this 30-year-old alleged terrorist and drug trafficker was carried out with the collaboration of the Moroccan authorities, according to a statement from the Spanish National Police. This thirty-something suspected terrorist and drug trafficker left the country in 2018, more precisely in September, after the terrorist cell to which he belonged was dismantled.

And he entered Spain illegally, according to the statement! Indeed, it is indicated: "The analysis of the information obtained by the investigators of the Spanish National Police has made it possible to discover that the individual in question had illegally entered Spanish territory".

It should be noted that the residence where this man was hiding in Spain, in Santa Coloma de Gramanet, was thoroughly searched for the purposes of the search.

The statement specifies that this arrest is an "illustration of the way to address a global phenomenon that requires an effort transcending borders and a solid international security cooperation such as that existing between Spain and Morocco".
