Moroccan Drug Baron Arrested in Marbella’s Luxury Port, Faces Extradition

Spanish National Police agents arrested a fugitive of Moroccan nationality in the province of Malaga, in Marbella, Spain, on Monday, July 22. The individual, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued against him by the Moroccan authorities, is already being claimed by the Kingdom of Morocco.
According to the press release from the Spanish National Police, the fugitive in question was located and arrested on Ramon Areces Street, in the very jet set "Puerto Banus". Immediately after being searched, he was placed in detention "for the purposes of extradition".
Indeed, once the appropriate procedures were initiated and, after consulting their databases, the Spanish police agents discovered that the Moroccan was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued against him by the Moroccan authorities for "a drug trafficking crime, for which he was sentenced to ten years in prison".
The individual is part of a criminal group based in Morocco, some members of which have been arrested by the Moroccan police. They had intercepted their vehicle loaded with cannabis resin at the Beni-Enzar (Nador) border post. The network was about to deliver the cargo to the Netherlands.
