Spanish Police Arrest Moroccan Fugitive Wanted for $2.4 Million Real Estate Fraud

The Spanish National Police has just announced the arrest of a Moroccan woman, under an international arrest warrant issued by the Moroccan authorities. What she is accused of: a fraud of 25 million dirhams.
Aged 51, this Moroccan woman was arrested on July 6, 2019, in Benalmádena, in the Malaga region (southern Spain). She was being prosecuted in Morocco for real estate scams amounting to 2.39 million euros.
The fugitive, who had taken advantage of her status as a Land Registrar, had taken up residence in this town in southern Spain, after fleeing Morocco, accompanied by her family, according to the police in a statement.
The investigators arrested the Moroccan woman at the beginning of this month, while she was near her home. After verifying her identity, it turned out that she was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Morocco.
She now has to appear before the Spanish justice system before her likely extradition to Morocco, where she risks a lot.
