Sofyan Amrabat Set for Historic Manchester United Debut Against Burnley

Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat is about to make history at Manchester United, which he joined at the end of the summer transfer window, on loan from ACF Fiorentina.

Manchester United will face Burnley this Saturday, September 23, 2023 as part of the sixth round of the Premier League. If Amrabat is in the starting lineup, he will be the first Moroccan to wear the flag, which will bring the number of nations that have worn the Red Devils jersey in the Premier League era to 46, according to Mail Sport, which has compiled the list of these nations. The 27-year-old player joined the English club on loan from ACF Fiorentina until 2024 for a fee of 10 million euros with a purchase option of 21.5 million pounds.

Manchester United is the Atlas Lion’s dream club. "You had a dream that saw you play under the lights of the Theater of Dreams. [...] We did it brother, a promise kept, a dream realized. The Theater of Dreams awaits you," wrote Mahmoud El Boustati, who represented Amrabat during his transfer to Old Trafford, on Instagram, indicating that the Moroccan international had declined other offers during the summer to finally realize his dream of signing for United. "It is a great honor to become a Manchester United player. I had to be patient to reach this moment, but I am someone who always listens to my heart and I now represent the club of my dreams," said the Moroccan international after his transfer.

Sofyan Amrabat has not yet made his first appearances for Manchester United due to an injury. He was injured during the Moroccan national team’s training session before the matches against Liberia and Burkina Faso. He immediately joined Carrington to have his injury evaluated. The former Viola star has trained this week and will likely be lined up for his club’s match against Burnley scheduled for this Saturday evening.
