Manchester United’s Amrabat Criticized as ’Worst Player’ in Bournemouth Defeat

A former Tottenham Hotspur manager turned expert believes that Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat is the "worst player" of Manchester United. He particularly criticizes his poor performance in the heavy defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday (0-3).
Sofyan Amrabat is still under fire. His club Manchester United sank against Bournemouth (0-3) on Saturday during the 15th matchday of the Premier League. A heavy defeat for which Tim Sherwood, former Tottenham Hotspur manager turned expert, does not hesitate to criticize the Moroccan international. "I want Ten Hag or someone to tell me why Kobbie Mainoo isn’t playing and Amrabat because Amrabat is by far their worst player today," he said on Sky Sports (according to TBR Football) during the first half. And he added: "He plays a lot of football and he makes bad decisions about it. His distribution is not as good as Kobbie’s."
This is not the first time the Moroccan has faced criticism from sports commentators. Recently, former English international Paul Merson criticized Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag for starting the Atlas Lion in the match against Galatasaray instead of midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who had a superb performance in his big debut with the club. "They have to trust Kobbie Mainoo to play at the base of midfield. He did a great job against Everton last weekend and I don’t know why they chose Sofyan Amrabat against Galatasaray," Merson reacted to Sportskeeda.
Amrabat joined Manchester United at the end of the summer transfer window on loan from ACF Fiorentina until June 2024 for a fee of 10 million euros with a purchase option of 21.5 million pounds. After a good start, the 27-year-old player is struggling to impose himself at Old Trafford. The Moroccan international "has still not had a positive impact on Erik ten Hag’s team" because he "is sometimes relegated to the left-back position," commented The Sun, adding that he has also struggled to adapt to the pace and intensity of the Premier League.
After this heavy defeat against Bournemouth at home, Manchester United is experiencing a real downward spiral. It is the 7th of the Red Devils in 16 Premier League matches this season. They will play for their survival in Europe next Tuesday against Bayern Munich before facing Liverpool in the Premier League.
