Skyline of Rabat: the gigantic 55-story Mohammed VI Tower is completed

The Belgian group BESIX announced on Monday the completion of the Mohammed VI Tower in Rabat. Reaching a height of 250 meters in the Bouregreg Valley, this 55-story building officially becomes the tallest building in the country.

The result of a collaboration launched in 2018 between the Brussels-based construction company BESIX and the Moroccan company TGCC, the structure now dominates the capital. According to the Belga agency, this concrete and steel giant houses a mixed-use complex including a luxury hotel, offices, and prestigious apartments.

Belgian expertise also marks the interior of the building. The Flamant Design company has indeed supervised the layout of strategic spaces such as the lobby and the ballroom. A panoramic observation platform completes this project visible from 50 kilometers around.

Technically, the tower has been designed to withstand earthquakes and strong winds thanks to foundations that go down to a depth of 60 meters. The ecological aspect is integrated with 4,000 square meters of solar panels distributed between the south facade and the roof to optimize the building’s energy efficiency.
