Preparations accelerate for the inauguration of the Mohammed VI Tower

The inauguration of the Mohammed VI Tower, the largest in Morocco and Africa, in Rabat, is taking shape. Development work will soon be undertaken on the banks of the Bouregreg River on the Salé side.
The development work on the area to house the Mohammed VI Tower must be undertaken before the inauguration of the building. In this regard, Mohamed Yaacoubi, Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, signed a decision for a large expropriation of land covering an area exceeding 70,000 m2, reports Maghreb-Intelligence. The lots housing the Slaoui brickworks, which covers several tens of thousands of m2, are among the lands to be expropriated. This expropriation aims to reserve the land needed to create a natural area, a wooded area and to redevelop the potters’ complex.
The construction work on the Mohammed VI Tower, the tallest in Morocco at 250 meters and 55 floors, was launched in 2018. With a total ground area of more than 100,000 square meters, the Tower houses an observation deck at the top, offices, apartments and a luxury hotel, all accessible via 40 elevators. This emblematic building of the development plan for the Bouregreg Valley near Rabat, designed by architects Rafael de la Hoz and Hakim Benjelloun, has high environmental quality with LEED Gold and HQE certifications, a particularly fine aesthetic and a condensed of innovations developed by the BESIX Engineering Department.
The project is financed up to $350 million by its promoter, the finance tycoon Othmane Benjelloun, chairman of Bank of Africa.
