Morocco’s Tallest Skyscraper Nears Completion: Mohammed VI Tower in Rabat Reaches Milestone

The construction of the Mohammed VI Tower in Rabat continues to welcome the first occupants soon. It has just reached an important milestone.
On the construction site, the workers are completing the immense ground floor, called the "podium", which directly faces the new river quay under construction a few meters from the Bouregreg wadi. An observation area installed at the top of the Mohammed VI Tower allows you to admire the cities of Rabat and Salé. "Inside, a prohibited area for visitors, the finishing work is still ongoing for an inauguration whose official date has not yet been set," said an anonymous construction site manager to the Le360 website.
The construction work on the Mohammed VI Tower, the tallest in Morocco and Africa at 250 meters and 55 floors, was launched in 2018 by King Mohammed VI. With a total ground area of more than 100,000 square meters, the infrastructure houses an observation deck at the top, offices, apartments and a luxury hotel, all accessible via 40 elevators. This project is financed up to $350 million by its promoter, the finance tycoon Othmane Benjelloun, the boss of Bank of Africa. Suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, construction had resumed for a total investment of $596 million (6 billion dirhams).
