Morocco’s Tallest Skyscraper: Mohammed VI Tower Nears Completion in Rabat

In Rabat, the construction of the Mohammed VI Tower, the largest in Morocco and Africa, should be completed very soon for an inauguration scheduled for this year.
Nearly six years after the start of its construction, the Mohammed VI Tower is entering the final chapter of its history. Finishing work on the ground floor is continuing, including at the level of the "podium", the main location of the central entrance on which the monumental building rests. The interior of the tower is also in the process of being finalized, particularly at the level of the floors, office spaces, apartments and shops, according to a source at the Le360 site. And to add: "The lighting system and the elevators have been working for some time now".
The construction work on the Mohammed VI Tower, the tallest in Morocco at 250 meters and 55 floors, was launched in 2018. With a total ground area of more than 100,000 square meters, the Tower houses an observation deck at the top, offices, apartments and a luxury hotel, all accessible via 40 elevators. This emblematic building of the development plan for the Bouregreg Valley near Rabat, designed by the architects Rafael de la Hoz and Hakim Benjelloun, has a high environmental quality with LEED Gold and HQE certifications, a particularly fine aesthetic and a concentrate of innovations developed by the BESIX Engineering Department.
The project is financed to the tune of $350 million by its promoter, the finance tycoon Othmane Benjelloun, the boss of Bank of Africa. Suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, construction had resumed for a total investment of $596 million (6 billion dirhams).
