Morocco’s Tallest Skyscraper: Mohammed VI Tower Nears Completion in Rabat

In Rabat, the construction site of the Mohammed VI Tower, the largest in Morocco and perhaps in Africa, is entering its final phase.
Launched in 2018, the construction work on the Mohammed VI Tower, the tallest in Morocco at 250 meters and 55 floors, whose inauguration is scheduled for 2024, will soon be completed. On the construction site, the workers are busy with its completion. The final phase concerns the construction of the large ceiling that overlooks the main entrance of the tower, as well as the floor and ceiling of the building, but also a small bay with a view of the Bouregreg river on the first floor, according to Morocco World News.
With a total ground area of more than 100,000 square meters, the Mohammed VI Tower houses an observation deck at the top, offices, apartments and a luxury hotel, all accessible via 40 elevators. This project is financed up to $350 million by its promoter, finance tycoon Othmane Benjelloun, chairman of Bank of Africa. Suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, construction had resumed for a total investment of $596 million (6 billion dirhams).
To recall, the tower won the award for "Best performance in terms of engineering projects or works developed by an SME" at the 15th edition of the Caminos Madrid Awards 2022. TGCC, the Moroccan leader in public works and construction, SIXCO, a subsidiary of the giant China Railway Construction Corporation International (CRCCI) and the Belgian group BESIX were entrusted with its construction.
