Senior Police Officer in Laâyoune Arrested for Alleged Drug Trafficking Ties and Corruption

A senior police officer, from the Laâyoune police prefecture, is being prosecuted for his alleged involvement in a case of corruption and disclosure of professional secrecy. A preliminary investigation was opened against him on Thursday evening by the national brigade of the judicial police, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office.
The police officer in question is suspected of corruption, for having benefited from donations in kind and in cash in order to fail in his professional obligations. He is also accused of having used his position to obtain strictly professional information.
He is also suspected of being an accomplice to certain members of drug and psychotropic trafficking networks, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The person concerned was placed in custody, at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the ins and outs of this case.
