Bank Director in Morocco Arrested for Alleged $350,000 Embezzlement Scheme

The director of a bank branch in Essaouira was arrested on Friday by the prefectural judicial police service of Marrakech. He is accused of being allegedly involved in a case of breach of trust.
It all started with a complaint received by the national security services, implicating the director of a bank branch and an employee of the same branch, in a case of embezzlement of around 3.5 million dirhams.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the investigation opened led to the arrest of the main suspect at his residence located in Guéliz in Marrakech.
While the search continues to arrest his accomplice who is the subject of a national arrest warrant, the main suspect was placed in custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation conducted by the regional brigade of the judicial police, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, details the same source.
