Senior Casablanca Police Officer Arrested for Alleged Corruption

A senior police officer, head of a police district in Sidi Moumen, was indicted on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. He is accused of his alleged involvement in a corruption case.
It all started with a complaint filed by a woman at the judicial police headquarters in Casablanca, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). The plaintiff claims that the police officer demanded money from her to carry out an act that falls within his prerogatives and jurisdiction.
A judicial investigation was immediately opened on the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office. It led to the arrest of the accused in the act.
The defendant was placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation in order to elucidate the ins and outs of this case, the same source said.
The police officer has been suspended from his duties, pending the results of the judicial investigation. Appropriate disciplinary and administrative measures could also be taken against him, the DGSN specified.
