Russian Fugitive Wanted for Armed Robbery Arrested at Casablanca Airport

The elements of the Moroccan police at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca succeeded in arresting a Russian national who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Belgian judicial authorities.
The identification operation revealed that the 48-year-old individual was the subject of a red notice issued by the International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery in Bruges in 2014.
The foreign national was taken into custody, pending the extradition procedure in force. The Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) announced in a press release that it had alerted the Belgian authorities of his arrest.
This operation, the press release adds, is part of the national strategy aimed at strengthening international cooperation mechanisms in the fight against terrorism and cross-border crime.
