Interpol Fugitive Arrested at Casablanca Airport for French Drug Trafficking Charges

A Tunisian national who was the subject of an international arrest warrant from Interpol, issued by the French authorities for trafficking and possession of prohibited materials, was arrested at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, the 68-year-old individual, tried in absentia by a French court, arrived via a flight from Tunis.
Wanted by the International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, since November 7, 2016, the Tunisian citizen was convicted in absentia for possession of prohibited materials and trafficking in a case dating back to 2019.
The suspect was taken into custody at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, pending the procedure for his extradition to France.
