Russia Pushes for Sputnik V Vaccine Approval in Morocco Amid Local Production Plans

Russia is taking steps to obtain Morocco’s approval for the registration and marketing of the Sputnik V vaccine against Covid-19 in the Moroccan market.
Will Morocco also produce the Russian Sputnik V vaccine? It is difficult to answer this question when referring to its vaccination schedule and especially its project to locally produce the Sinopharm vaccine, which is almost complete, according to Maghreb Intelligence.
Despite this evidence, the Russian authorities are not giving up, the same source continues. "In any case, the negotiations are still ongoing between the two parties," diplomatic sources said, admitting that the task will not be easy for the above-mentioned reasons.
In an early October statement, Artyom Tsinamdzgvrishvili, head of the Moscow trade mission, hinted that a Moroccan laboratory intended to produce and distribute the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus. This information was denied a few hours later by the founder of the Moroccan laboratory Galenica, who holds an exclusive contract for the manufacture and marketing of the Sputnik vaccine in Morocco.
