Tétouan Airport Relocation Rumors Debunked by Local Officials

Persistent rumors on social media, particularly Facebook, claim that the Saniat R’mel airport in Tétouan will be attached to the prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq. These allegations follow the publication in the Official Bulletin of a modification of the plan concerning the airport.
Faced with the scale of the controversy, Monssef Toub, deputy of the province of Tétouan and president of the Provincial Tourism Council, took steps to clarify things. He formally denied these informations, describing them as "false and unfounded".
Mr. Toub said he had contacted the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, as well as several airport officials. "They all confirmed to me that the airport has not been transferred to any other territorial entity. It is still located in Tétouan and will remain there," he said.
According to the deputy, the publication in the Official Bulletin is simply an "ordinary government administrative procedure concerning only urban planning." Far from being concerned about these changes, Mr. Toub reaffirmed his commitment: "We will all continue to advocate for increased development of the Saniat R’mel airport."
