Morocco’s Game-Changing Rail Link: Tanger-Tétouan Line Sparks World Cup Dreams and Economic Hopes

The railway project between Tanger and Tétouan was the subject of a written question addressed to the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdelssamad Kayouh, by the deputy Monssef Toub, member of the Istiqlal group.
The parliamentary initiative aims to obtain clarification on the future of this file. First, the status of the technical study of the project, a contract that had been awarded to a Spanish company. Secondly, it requests the communication of the schedule set for the start of the construction work.
In his question, the deputy states that this project is generating significant anticipation among the inhabitants of Tétouan, specifying that they are facing daily travel difficulties to Tanger, whether for professional or study reasons, and that they lack a fast and efficient means of transportation.
Mr. Toub also stated that this future railway line would have an economic, tourism and development impact for the province. He linked this necessity to the context of the preparations for the 2030 World Cup, which require strengthening of the infrastructure, qualifying the project as a "strategic priority" for the northern railway network of the Kingdom.
