Fog Disrupts Flights at Morocco’s Tétouan Airport, Forcing Diversions

Disruptions were recorded on Sunday at Tétouan’s Saniat Rmel International Airport where several flights were unable to land due to unfavorable weather conditions.
A thick fog covered the city all day on Sunday, preventing several planes from landing at Saniat Rmel Airport. A Boeing 737-BAS from Ryanair coming from Marseille was diverted to Tanger’s Ibn Battouta International Airport after two failed landing attempts at Saniat Rmel. Similarly, an Air Arabia Airbus A320-214 flight from Barcelona was forced to deviate from its trajectory to land at Tanger airport.
However, a (Lockheed C-130H-LM Hercules) aircraft of the Royal Armed Forces coming from Casablanca airport managed to land at Tétouan airport and take off again towards Al Hoceima. A Royal Air Maroc plane serving the Casablanca-Al Hoceima via Tétouan route on Fridays and Sundays was also able to make a stopover at Saniat Rmel.
