Royal Air Maroc Brings Back Casablanca–Essaouira Flights at 400 Dirhams
Royal Air Maroc is restoring direct flights between Casablanca and Essaouira from Sunday, November 1. Suspended since 2020, the route will connect passengers to the Atlantic city in one hour and 20 minutes, with two round trips a week and a one-way ticket costing 400 dirhams.

Launched in September 2017, the Casablanca–Essaouira route was still operating at the end of 2019 before disappearing from Royal Air Maroc’s network amid the health crisis in March 2020. It was not restored when domestic flights gradually resumed in June of that year.
Six years later, its return was officially announced on Wednesday, October 28, in Essaouira, at a ceremony attended by Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh. The first commercial flights are scheduled for Sunday, November 1.
The fare is set at 400 dirhams each way in economy class, or 800 dirhams for a round trip. In business class, a round-trip ticket will cost 1,600 dirhams. These subsidized fares are the result of a partnership between Royal Air Maroc, several ministries and the authorities in the Marrakech-Safi region.
The airline will operate two round trips a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. This is slightly less frequent than the three weekly flights offered when the route launched in 2017, when a one-way ticket also cost 400 dirhams.
Casablanca–Essaouira: schedules for the new flights
On Wednesdays, the plane will depart Casablanca at 16:00 and land in Essaouira at 17:20. The return flight is scheduled for 18:00, arriving at Mohammed V Airport at 19:20.
On Sundays, the flight from Casablanca is scheduled to depart at 8:20 and arrive in Essaouira at 9:40. In the other direction, the plane will leave Essaouira at 10:20 and reach Casablanca at 11:40. These schedules will make it possible, in particular, to spend four nights there, from Wednesday to Sunday.

Beyond travel between the two cities, the resumption is expected to make international travel from Essaouira easier. Passengers will be able to connect through Casablanca’s hub to reach the 86 international destinations served by Royal Air Maroc.
With the route’s return, the airline’s domestic network will grow to 28 routes. Tickets are already available on the official Royal Air Maroc website, at its offices and through partner travel agencies.
