Repeat Offender Shot After Threatening Police and Citizens with Knife in Rabat

A police officer on duty with the mobile rescue unit of the Rabat police prefecture was forced to use his weapon, faced with a repeat offender. The latter was threatening the lives of citizens and police officers with a bladed weapon.
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated in a press release that information that the suspect was sowing chaos on the public highway after getting into an argument with another individual with a criminal record had reached the Rabat command and coordination room.
Immediately, a police rescue patrol intervened, but faced violent resistance from the accused, armed with a bladed weapon. Faced with this situation, the police sergeant was forced to fire three shots, two of which were warning shots, putting the suspect to flight, the press release details.
At least the police elements managed to arrest a 26-year-old woman who was in the company of the main suspect. The latter was under the strong influence of drugs and was immediately taken into custody for investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office.
The police are continuing their investigations and intend to also arrest the two other suspects, whose identities have been determined, the same source indicates.
