Kenitra Police Officer Fires Warning Shot to Subdue Armed Suspect, One Agent Injured

A police officer from the judicial police brigade of the Mehdia security district in Kénitra was forced to use his weapon to apprehend a repeat offender on Monday, June 15, 2020. The suspect was in a state of strong impulsivity and threatened the police elements with a bladed weapon.
A police patrol intervened to apprehend the 31-year-old suspect who was causing trouble on the public highway under the influence of drugs, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release.
During the intervention, the accused violently resisted the police elements with a large bladed weapon, slightly injuring one of them, the same source adds, stating that the police sergeant had to use his service weapon by firing a warning shot. Result: the danger was neutralized, the suspect apprehended and the bladed weapon seized.
Pending the determination of all the criminal acts attributed to him, the accused was taken into custody.
