A police inspector working at the Bensouda police station in Fez was forced on Sunday to use his service weapon to apprehend a dangerous repeat offender, who was the subject of several arrest warrants. The defendant, who was in a state of strong impulsivity under the influence of drugs, attacked the police officers with a bladed weapon.
It all started with the intervention of a patrol from the investigations brigade to arrest the defendant who was under the influence of drugs and disturbing public order, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security.
During the intervention, the defendant violently resisted using glass bottles, forcing a policeman to use his service weapon by firing a warning shot and two others that hit the suspect in the abdomen, which allowed him to be arrested and neutralized.
Pending the judicial investigation, the defendant was transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary care.
