Moroccan Police Shoot Armed Suspect Wanted for Threatening Officer with Sword

A police officer from the local judicial police brigade of Ksar El Kébir used his service weapon to apprehend a nationally wanted individual. Equipped with a large caliber bladed weapon, the latter was endangering the lives of the police officers.
The accused, aged 34, had harassed a police inspector by appearing twice at his home in Ksar El Kébir and threatening him with a sword, according to the DGSN in a press release. These were reprisals for the policeman’s participation in the arrest of the suspect for a case of organizing illegal immigration, the same source specifies.
Informed, the police elements went to the rural commune of Ksar Bjir, 8 km from Ksar El Kébir, where the accused was located. During his arrest, he violently resisted the police using bladed weapons. Subsequently, a police inspector had to fire a warning shot. The suspect was overpowered. Bladed weapons and a car were seized.
Pending the determination of the ins and outs of this case as well as all the criminal acts attributed to him, the suspect was taken into custody.
