Repeat Offender Arrested for Bus Robberies and Attempted Kidnapping in Casablanca

Elements of the Casablanca police prefecture arrested, on Friday, a repeat offender aged 27. He would be involved in two thefts under the threat of a bladed weapon on board two public transport buses, one of which is associated with an attempted kidnapping of the victim.
The national security services had received, on Friday morning, a notification concerning an attempt to kidnap one of the victims under the threat of a bladed weapon on board an urban bus in the Hay Hassani district, before exposing the bus driver to the same threat, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Intensified security operations on the ground made it possible to identify the suspect and arrest him in possession of the bladed weapon used in this assault, the same source said.
The investigations and inquiries carried out by the national security services revealed that the accused was also involved in a similar theft on board another urban bus in the Ben M’sik area, where he had seized a mobile phone seized at the time of his arrest, the source added.
Pending the elucidation of these criminal acts, the man was placed in custody.
