Tangier Police Officer Fires Shots to Stop Armed Suspects Threatening Driver

Two individuals forced a peace officer to use his weapon to immobilize the vehicle they were using to cause trouble on the public highway. The incident occurred on Friday evening in Tangier and resulted in the arrest of the defendants.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates that the police officer was ensuring compliance with the state of health emergency at the Ghandouri roundabout, located on the road leading to the town of Ksar Sghir, when "two individuals, in a light vehicle, tried to threaten another driver who was subject to traffic control procedures with a sword."
Faced with the threat, the police officer fired a first warning shot, and two more on the tires of the vehicle, the DGSN explains, specifying that "the investigations led to the arrest of the suspects, the seizure of the car near a rural area close to the scene of the intervention, as well as the bladed weapon used in this assault."
Pending the determination of all the details of this case, which may be related to a monetary transaction, the two defendants have been taken into custody, concludes the same source.
