Renault, Volkswagen, Peugeot Lead Morocco’s Used Car Market, Study Shows

Renault, Volkswagen and Peugeot occupy the top positions in the Avito ranking. These are the used cars most sold on the second-hand car market since 2014.
The top 3 is composed of Renault with 110,772 ads posted for sale in 2019, followed by Volkswagen with 91,722 ads and Peugeot with 90,043 ads, according to Avito in a press release.
The same source specifies that this ranking constitutes a strong trend that has been confirmed since 2014, indicating the clear preference of Moroccans for the models of these 3 brands when it comes to acquiring a used vehicle. In addition, the analysis of the best-selling models of these three brands shows that the most sought-after categories are those of city cars and compact sedans.
Thus, Clio, Kangoo and Mégane from the Renault brand are the most popular models. The 206, 308 and Partner from the Peugeot brand are the best-selling models. For Volkswagen, the Golf, Polo and Passat are the most purchased models.
The Avito platform’s study also looked at the dominance of diesel engines in Morocco. It emerges that nearly three-quarters of the used models traded via Avito are equipped with diesel engines (74%). Gasoline engines account for 26% of the market.
