Renault Morocco Boosts Production Despite Global Auto Slump

The Renault Group Morocco has achieved good performance in 2019, despite a declining global market.
The Tangier and Casablanca plants have consolidated their production pace "thanks to the attractiveness of the products manufactured in the Kingdom to meet national and international demand," said the CEO of the Group, Mark Nassif, during a press conference on the presentation of the group’s 2019 activity report, held in Casablanca. The production of the two plants reached 394,902 vehicles in 2019, including 303,558 vehicles at the Renault Tangier plant and 91,344 at the Somaca plant, an increase of more than 9% compared to 2018.
The group has boosted the export of "made in Morocco" vehicles with a volume of 351,514 vehicles shipped to a total of 74 countries, including 283,816 vehicles produced at the Renault Tangier plant (93% of the plant’s production) and 67,698 vehicles at the Renault Casablanca plant (more than 74% of Somaca’s production), Mark Nassif said.
In a global market down 6.5%, the Renault and Dacia brands have retained the top two places in the ranking, said Laurent Diot, CEO of Renault Commerce Maroc.
"Moreover, 6 Group models are in the top 7 best-selling vehicles in 2019. These are respectively Renault Clio, which becomes the best-selling car in Morocco for the first time, with 12,377 deliveries, Dacia Logan, the 2nd best-selling vehicle on the market, dominating its segment with 11,744 sales, or 67.5% market share, Dacia Sandero (11,186 sales and 3rd best-selling vehicle), Dacia Dokker (11,038 sales and 4th best-selling vehicle), Dacia Duster (8,219 sales and 5th best-selling vehicle) and finally, Renault Kangoo which ranks 7th with 4,660 units sold," added Laurent Diot.
